2017 Applications

Application for 2017 open on 1 August 2016. All applications for accommodation must be made online via the University of Otago Student Accommodation Centre website. Make sure that you choose St Margaret's as your College of first preference. We do not accept applications for the 1st semester only (i.e. your application must be for the full year), however we do sometimes have spaces become available during semester 1, and may be able to accept 2nd semester only applications after 1 April 2017.

As St Margaret's is an independent college, we require that all applicants also complete an additional information form to assist us in the selection process. Please do not post any items directly to St Margaret's, such as certificates or a curriculum vitae, unless we contact you to request such information. If you do post something then want it returned then you will have to pay the postage costs.

We get many more applications than available rooms, so it pays to make sure you have submitted your additional information as soon as possible so that you don't miss out on a chance. The majority of places are offered in mid-October, however you can still apply afterward but may need to be added to a waitlist for an available room.

Email problems

Microsoft are currently blocking emails sent from and address. To ensure you receive email from us regarding your application, please follow the instructions below to whilelist our domains:

  1. Log into your Hotmail/ account
  2. Click on the 'Settings' cog at the top right of your screen
  3. Click 'Options'
  4. Click 'Safe and Blocked Senders'
  5. Click 'Safe Senders'
  6. In the 'Sender or domain to mark as safe' box, enter:
  7. Click on 'Add to list >>'
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for

Welfare Staff (Residential Assistant) Applications

Please note that St Margaret's only accepts applications for Welfare Staff positions from current College members.
