Tough chess competition

St Margaret's entered two teams (two people per team) in the recent Inter-college Chess Competition held in the Business School. All up 24 teams participated in an extremely tough.

Although neither of the College's teams were placed in the top three by the end of the competition (one team came fourth), we received valuable participation points which will count towards our overall Inter-college Competition score.

The Colleges four participants were Qi Le Kong-Lim, Martin Shen, Lakshmi Thillaikkannan, and William Wu, all pictured below while intensely deciding on their next move during one of their games.

The competition took place between 12 noon and 5 pm on Sunday, 5 May 2019 in one of the Business School's new lecture rooms under the expert guidance of Luke Lovegrove, the Deputy Head of Hayward College.

The overall winner of the competition was Abbey College. Caroline Freeman College was placed second and the Locals third.

On behalf of the College, I would like to thank our four Members for their enthusiastic participation in the competition and Angela Nguyen, the Executive Committee's Cultural Rep, for her energetic organisation and support of our two teams.
