Friend-Link concert enjoyed by all

Beginning in 1997, Members of St Margaret's College have put on an annual concert for Friend-Link Dunedin. The 22nd annual concert took place on Friday, 14 September 2018.

Friend-Link is an organisation which supports a network of people with and without disabilities in friendship and leisure activities. As part of St Margaret's longstanding tradition of community service, an annual concert is held at the College for the Friend-Link network.

The 22nd concert included an hour-long programme of musical items (choir, piano, guitar, solo and duet singing, and cello). The concert's director was Ellen Walters, the Arts Representative on this year's Executive Committee. Around 55 Friend-Link members attended.

To open the concert, the choir gave a wonderful rendition of Heal the world while at the end of the concert, Abba's Dancing Queen by the choir proved a popular choice with a very appreciative audience singing along, and dancing too of course!

After the concert, each performer was presented with a greeting card with a painting by Allan Hegan who is one of the Friend-Link members. At the 2017 concert, Allan Hegan, kindly presented the College with one of his framed paintings which now hangs on the wall in the  Valentine Common Room.

The evening concluded with supper in the Norris Dining Hall which provided everyone with the opportunity to enjoy each others company together with some very tasty baking prepared by our Kitchen Staff.
