Chess masters

The Inter-college chess trophy returned to the College on the weekend thanks to the wonderful efforts of returning Members Arthur Chia and William Wu.

The College last won the trophy in 2018 and came second last year so it's nice to once again have it on display in our trophy cabinet in the foyer.

Two teams of two Members each represented St Margaret's in this year's the annual Inter-college Chess competition, namely Arthur Chia and William Wu, and Tosh Mohan and Sam Vournelis.

The Competition took place in the large foyer of the University's School of Business with 26 teams representing most of the residential colleges taking part. It got underway at 12.30 pm and finished around 4 pm on Sunday afternoon, 18 April 2021.

The College thanks our four chess masters and congratulates them on winning the competition. Interestingly, William Wu was also part of the team which earlier in the year won the Inter-college Badminton Competition. Clearly the College should enter William in more competitions this year...
