The Red Bricks and White Curtains

Grace Swanson, a first-year Member of St Margaret's this year, shared this lovely poem which she penned soon after arrival at the College.

Red bricks, a frame of new opportunities.
White Curtains blowing daintely.
Soft and light, airy like a dream.
Hazy like the future, all that we can see,
Makes me wistful and reflect,
What will this place bring?

Books and cosy nooks.
The things we learn,
The ways we grow.
Challenges soon to be discovered.
New mountains to climb and succeed,
I wonder how it will all look in the end.

Why do we wish?
Why do we dream?
Some inner meaning,
Some beautiful design.
What hope and truth do we find?
That we keep, this light that is mine.

Beyond every door and room.
The red bricks and white curtains
Even the breeze, a whispered wind that carried me here.
This adventure, a waiting tale to tell,
Of a home away from home,
A wonderful time, a memory that will last a lifetime.
