Diversity celebrated

Last Sunday (9 August 2020), the College celebrated our amazing international community at a special Formal Dinner in the Norris Dining Hall.

Twelve (12) percent of this year's College Members are international students but many more have international origins. By birth, a record 32 different countries are represented at the College with a large 45% of Members being born overseas. We don't have to travel to experience different cultures!

At the Formal Dinner last Sunday, the College's kitchen staff produced the most amazing meal with food from many different countries. It was just wonderful.

Members were encouraged to dress in their national costumes and eight from our Indian, Sri Lankan and Indian communities performed a beautiful and energetic item with dancing up and down the aisles.

The usual post-dinner gathering followed in the Valentine Common Room with our three guests: Prof Lisa Houghton (Canadian; Dept of Human Nutrition); Brett Dailey (also Canadian; Financial Manager); and Prof Rachel Zajac (Dept of Psychology). Complemented by the Master (of South African origin), it was quite an international party!
