Community at St Margaret's
Creating a unique mix of ideas, cultures and abilities
We're not elitist or focused solely on academics. Rather, we look for students who have a proven application to work and a commitment to helping others.
University education is about a mixing of ideas and cultures. To foster this, St. Margaret’s chooses students who collectively create a mix of various backgrounds, interests, abilities, and academic aspirations.
While many of our Members are studying health sciences courses, we encourage and welcome applications from students in all disciplines. We're proud of the community of care we've created over the years and encourage you to visit us and see it in action for yourself.
College selection criteria
When making decisions about admitting students to a college, many aspects are carefully considered by the heads of college, including:
- Your school results
- Your school subjects and their fit with your proposed course of study
- Your confidential school reference (known as the CCRF or Common Confidential Reference Form)
- Your extra-curricular activities (e.g. sport, cultural, art, music, community service, etc)
- Your written reason for selecting a particular college
- Your fit or match with the college's ethos
- Each college's policy in terms of the balance sought regarding study disciplines and cultural and gender proportions
- Your college preference
