A happy bunch of 18 Members accompanied the Master and Dean of Students to the University's recent College Colours Awards Dinner for the Inter-College Sporting, Cultural and Gaming Competitions.
The School of Business large foyer area provided an ideal venue for the grand occasion, attended by approximately 300 people. We were treated to a wonderful waited three-course meal and entertainment by Loose and Colourful.
St Margaret's Members took part in all three of the inter-college competitions this year with the highest participation rate ever. As the Master, I enjoyed watching our teams participate in the various events during the course of the year, ranging from football to musical performances to debating to visual art to literary.
Anna Domett helped the College win the Colours in the visual arts competition:
And Lauren Phang accepted the badminton Colours on behalf of the College:
In terms of overall results, St Margaret's achieved 4th place in the Cultural Competition (out of 17 colleges), 7th place in the Games Competition and 11th place in the Sports Competition.
Thanks are extended to all Members who participated in, or supported, the various events during the year. It was wonderful to see.
The College is also extremely grateful to our Arts, Cultural and Sports Representatives on the Executive Committee, namely Tessa Dalgety-Evans, Angela Nguyen and Zhongjin Huang respectively. These three Reps, with help from others too, have all done magnificent jobs in not only encouraging participation but organising teams and participants. Thank you too to Alex McLennan for the weekly laundry of the sports uniforms!
The Awards Dinner concluded with the singing of the academic hymn Gaudeamus led by our very own accomplished singer, Anna Domett.
