"Thank you for your warm and generous hospitality last night. The resounding success of the May 2018 Fellows Dinner was clearly underpinned by thoughtful organisation which allowed the impressive residents to shine through. We believe you are shaping many future leaders."
We were thrilled to receive such positive feedback from one of the College Fellows who attended the annual Fellows' Dinner held on Wednesday, 2 May 2018.
The Kitchen at St Margaret's outshone themselves as usual with a marvellous three-course meal (see accompanying image of the menu) preceded by canapés in the Valentine Common Room which included divine oysters and whitebait.
During the pre-dinner gathering, a variety of live background music was played by some of our musically talented Members including piano, voice, violin and cello. Dinner in the Norris Dining Hall including an amazing musical interlude by our very own String Trio (two violinists and a cellist) who entertained us with three wonderful items. It was as if we were attending a professional concert!
Together with Fellows and Council Members, the College Leaders, Student Executive Committee Members and musicians also attended the evening, thoroughly enjoying the company of the Fellows.
The President of the Student Executive, Brittany Muiznieks, celebrated her 20th birthday on the day of the Fellows' Dinner and the Master surprised her with a birthday cake with two candles (one for each decade of her life). All present enjoyed singing happy birthday to her before she gave an interesting presentation on the various activities that the Executive have arranged and are arranging for Members this year. She concluded her talk with a short video introducing each Member of the Student Executive.
Priya Patel, a College Leader, gave an excellent and informative talk on her reflections of the College Leaders training programme during early February before the College opened for the 2018 academic year. A short video was also shown of the highlights of their week-long away trip to Te Anau, expertly put together by College Leader James Olliver.
Overall, it was a really pleasant evening which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The accompanying photos provide the evidence!
To conclude, a couple of quotes from two of the Fellows who attended the dinner:
- "Please can you pass on my sincere Thank you to all staff and students for the wonderful evening last night. The whole evening was wonderful and the food first class"
- "I had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and catch up with members and fellows. I especially enjoyed hearing the College Leaders’ updates and their very positive feedback on their retreat with yourself earlier in the year. I know they get so much from that experience."
