Most of the College's 224 Members participated in the University's Sports Day during Orientation Week. And what a fabulous day it was.
Unlike in 2018 when Sports Day had to be cancelled on account of the weather, on Tuesday, 19 February the day was just perfect: hardly a breeze, nice and warm, and totally dry.
With everyone attired in their new St Margaret's T-shirts (grey for Members, purple for the Exec and blue for College Leaders), Members set out from the College at 12 noon to walk up to the Opoho sports ground. First on the agenda was to assemble all 3,000 students into the shape of a massive 150 for a photo-by-a-drone to commemorate the University's 150th anniversary (click here to see a separate article and the resultant 150th photo).
Following the photo, Members gathered around the College's new gazebo, gifted by the 2018 Exec. Some serious chanting then took place with St Margaret's certainly making its presence felt on the field. It was great!
It was wonderful to see Members enthusiastically participating in the various sports on offer: netball, volleyball, football and touch. While Sports Day is more about fun, participation and College camaraderie rather than winning as such, our teams went all out to win their respective games with many doing just that, including the touch teams!
The accompanying photos tell the story - a wonderful day.
