The College’s performance in last evening’s Inter-college Maori/Pasifika Concert has taken St Margaret’s to the top of the table in the University’s Inter-college Cultural Competition.
Our team was “amazing” said Amber Russell, who helped organise the concert which took place in front of a packed audience in the University’s Marama Hall on 13 May 2018.
Those representing St Margaret’s at the popular concert were Melania Napa’a, Loamé van Zyl, Ellen Walters, Tessa Dalgety, MeeHwa Atimalala, Katie Cooper and Eleazar Taufa. They sang a Samoan song called ‘Uso’ and two Maori Waiata: ‘Nanea Ana’ which was performed with actions and ‘Te Rina’.
Their outstanding effort has helped St Margaret’s rise to the top of the table in the University’s Inter-college Culturyal Competition. So far, the College has won the chess and quiz competitions which form part of the Cultural Competition and we have earned points in the gaming, visual arts and Maori/Pasifika sections of the Competition.
We are looking forward to the next sections of the Competition over the next few months. It would seem that we stand quite a good chance of winning the overall Cultural Competiton this year!
