Pardon the pun, but my wife, Brenda, and I had a ball at our very first St Margaret's Annual Ball held at the Savoy on Saturday evening, 12 August.
The Ball's theme was The Golden Days and the Ball Committee, led by Social Rep Emma Stewart did a most wonderful job in decorating the Savoy accordingly, as you will see from the photos accompanying this story.
Despite my "abballing" jokes during my short welcome speech, everyone had a marvellous time! The food was excellent, the music just right, the company perfect, and everyone looked amazing.
In true St Margaret's tradition, the venue was kept secret with all three buses travelling different routes to arrive at "the place", keeping everyone guessing until literally the last minute.
As everyone present now knows, I'm not a good dancer but Brenda and I did take to the dance floor several times and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, together with everyone else. The end of the Ball - midnight - arrived too soon.
Thank you so much, Emma Stewart and your Ball Committee, for organising such a fantastic event. Brenda and I look forward to many more Balls to come.
