Two books recently purchased are Ki Te Whaiao for Māori studies, and Being Mortal primarily - but not exclusively - for Medical Students.
Ki Te Whaiao was requested for the library as an aid to Māori Studies.

Being Mortal is recommended for two major groups:
- First Year Health Science students, especially those studying Medicine, and
- Anyone who knows somebody whose life is drawing to a close.
Being Mortal was recommended by Expert Breakfast speaker and College Fellow Dr Susan Heydon, of the School of Pharmacy. Written by Dr Atul Gawande, a practising surgeon as well as staff writer for the New Yorker, it deals with the difficult topic of how Western medicine handles mortally ill patients. "I couldn't put it down . . . . It was all about discussions we should be having. It is about how we can live life to the full right to the end" says Dr Heydon. This book is in the Medical section.
